Charlotte started playing ice hockey when she was 11 years old. Fast forward to today and she's balancing life in the Royal Military Police while being captain of her Corps and the Army Women's ice hockey teams.

Thanks to the support available in the Army, Charlotte has been able to continue developing as an athlete, compete at a high level and pursue the sport she loves, all while building a rewarding career. Check out her journey now.

How does the Army support talented athletes?

Charlotte is part of the Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme (TASS). This scheme helps serving athletes with nutrition, specialised strength and conditioning training and physio – making sure you have the best support to grow as a player.

It also ensures your chain of command can support your training and competition commitments alongside your role.

There are over 100 official Army sports to choose from, you can try something new and enjoy the social side, or even aim for the Olympics.

While ice hockey is a huge part of Charlotte's life, her day job is equally rewarding…

What’s it like being in the Royal Military Police?

The Royal Military Police (RMP) are there to uphold law within the Army, in the UK and abroad. Just like a civilian police officer you will learn how to gather evidence and look after detainees.

We have full jurisdiction over all soldiers, wherever they are, to whether they’re on a night out, or they’re deployed, any of that.

A career in the RMP gives you the opportunity to build skills and experience that can take you further, including:

  • Recognised policing qualifications and specialist training

  • Skills in investigations, evidence handling and military law

  • Specialist training such as Close Protection and Digital Forensics

  • Opportunities to work in the UK and overseas

  • Valuable experience to support your future career

Want to do the sport you love while building a career?

Whether you're competing at a high level or simply enjoy staying active, the Army offers opportunities to develop your skills, represent your team and take your sport further.
